MIEM granted US $ 573,472 to 19 companies across the country to carry out projects in prioritized areas of productive activity
On December 29, 2020, the certificates were delivered virtually to the 2020 beneficiaries of the Fondo Industrial, an instrument that grants non-reimbursable funds to companies that present investment projects that promote the addition of value. The main objective of the fund is to diversify and modernize the national productive structure.
Omar Paganini, the Minister of Industry, Energy, and Mining, and the president of the Uruguayan Chamber of Industries (CIU), Alfredo Antía, participated as speakers in the virtual act of delivery of certificates. Likewise, the undersecretary of MIEM, Walter Verri, and the national director of Industries, Susana Pecoy participated.
The Secretary of State remarked that, in an environment of budgetary restrictions, the Industrial Fund constitutes a very relevant instrument “to continue supporting the diversification and modernization of the productive structure and the national productive fabric, and to develop industries that enhance competitiveness and improve our insertion in the productive chains ”.
The president of the CIU, Alfredo Antía recalled that he himself was selected in a previous edition of the Industrial Fund, assured that this instrument has “economic consequences” and stressed that it allows the industry to achieve better objectives through the union of the public sectors and private.
Finally, the selected companies underlined the importance of these funds to improve and optimize their processes, betting on the national industry and making it possible to implement changes and even the incorporation of more personnel to their production lines.
